Daniel Grossoehme, viola
A native of Cincinnati, Daniel’s early musical background includes playing trumpet, organ, and choral singing. He came to the viola in 2008 after playing violin for three years, drawn to its deeper tones. He played as a community member of the Xavier University Chamber Orchestra for three years and the Seven Hills Sinfonia (and was Board Member) for four years before relocating to northeast Ohio for a new job. This is his second season playing with PSO and his first year on the Board. He also attends Emerald Isle String Haven in the summer (“band camp” for adult string players) and is coached by Laura Shuster. Daniel is a Senior Research Scientist at Akron Children’s Hospital, focusing on palliative care; he is an Episcopal priest and Affiliate Clergy at Christ Church Episcopal, Hudson, Ohio. After work, he’s fond of cooking, writing, and reading.
