Brian D. Maskow, Assistant Conductor

Brian D. Maskow, a Parma resident, is the retired Director of Bands from Lakewood High School where he taught for over 30 years. He received his degrees in music from Bowling Green State University and Northwestern University, where he received a Summer Music Fellowship. Brian received the Lakewood City Schools’ Educator of the Year Award in 1996. He is a past Jennings Scholar. Also, he is past Executive Secretary of the Greater Cleveland Solo & Ensemble Contest Association.

Currently, he is the Associate Director of the Strongsville Community Band. Additionally, he has guest conducted several regional school honor and festival bands. His conducting teachers and influences are Mark Kelly, John Paynter, Larry Radcliff, and Robert Jorgenson. He retired after 12 years of service as an Educational Sales Representative for Rettig Music. As a clarinetist and saxophonist, Brian has performed with several local orchestras, including the Strongsville Community Band and several local jazz and weekend bands.

He is married to Julie Elliott Maskow, a violinist, retired Director of Orchestras at Fairview Park City Schools and past Director of the New Horizons Orchestra at Baldwin Wallace University. They enjoy golf and time on their RV and share their home with Baxter the Wire Haired Fox Terrier.
