Alice Moore Allen

Alice Moore Allen first began playing harp nearly 40 years ago and has performed with the Parma Symphony Orchestra for over 30 seasons. She follows in the footsteps of her beloved harp teacher, the late Jocelyn Chang, who played with the orchestra in the 1980s and early 1990s. Alice is grateful to conductor Dr. Rand Laycock for providing her with a strong orchestral foundation from a young age. Alice graduated from Bowling Green State University, where she studied harp with Julie Kemp Buzzelli and performed under the baton of Emily Freeman Brown in the BGSU Philharmonia Orchestra. Alice enjoys performing together with her mother Judy Naujoks Moore, the principal flutist in the Parma Symphony Orchestra. Alice also performs in the Cleveland Winds with her spouse Darren, a percussionist. She is currently the managing director of the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, in which her high school senior Sydney plays the clarinet. Alice is also active in the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland.
