The Spring concert included Ballet Music for “Le Cid” by Jules Massenet and Selections from Gilbert & Sullivan:  “Pirates of Penzance”, “Princess Ida”, “Yeoman of the Guard” and “The Mikado” featuring soloists Brian Keith Johnson, Jared Steven Plasterer, Susan Laycock and Kira Seaton.

The concert included Egmont Overture by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Symphony #2 (Romantic) by Howard Hanson and Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto #1 in G Minor Op. 26 performed by soloist Hristo Popov.

Described as “Virtuoso-violinist extraordinaire” (Musical Horizons), Hristo Popov, brings tremendous experience to the concert stage.  Popov made his orchestral debut at the age of nine and since then has performed throughout the United States, England, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico as both recitalist and concerto soloist. His Carnegie Hall debut has been hailed by The Strad Magazine as “…alert and energetic” and New York Concert Review as “…impassioned and unified, with each instrument shining individually”.

The concert of Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony #5” and Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto #3” featuring piano soloist Alexander Wasserman. A native of Oak Park, California, Alexander Wasserman grew up in a musical family, and began formal piano studies with Suzanne Julian, herself a protege of renowned pianist and teacher Jakob Gimpel.

"Cello Concerto No. 2" by Camille Saint-Saens featuring Guest Soloist Regina Mushabac (see info on artist below,) "The Noon Witch, A Symphonic Poem” by Antonin Dvorak and "Romanian Rhapsodie No. 1" by George Enesco.  

 Award winning cellist REGINA MUSHABAC is in demand as recitalist and soloist with orchestras in this country and abroad.    Mushabac is professor of cello at the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music (Cleveland).  She was trained by some of the most distinguished cellists of the era.  She studied at Juilliard with Leonard Rose for six years and continued with Janos Starker at Indiana University and became his teaching assistant.  In addition to the complete standard repertoire, Mushabac is well known for her exploration into new music.  She has performed dozens of world premieres and can be heard in solo recordings on GM Recording Label, Trumedia Records, and New World Records.  For more information see her website www.reginamushabac.com
